"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn," - Ignacio Estrada. We should teach the way our children learn and actively engage our them to learn by allowing them the opportunity to choose how they learn!
My students are a fantastic bunch of special education third graders attending a primary school in a low income area of Virginia.
Many of my students are served under the special education category of Autism. The program in my school is geared to differentiate the instruction for our special education students to promote an excellence in learning opportunities. Our school and school community are absolutely wonderful and supportive; however, due to our location and socio-demographics, obtaining the appropriate materials to enhance learning has been very difficult!
My Project
A document camera can allow you to show 3-D objects, text from a book or off a sheet of paper to the entire classroom. While not as technology savvy as a Smartboard, the document camera allows students to engage in differentiated instruction with the teacher by providing unique access to instructional material. Document cameras are widely used for video conferencing, lectures, document sharing and much more!
By having a document camera in the classroom, my students will benefit from the unique learning opportunities by being engaged in the material they are learning.
Also, the camera supports special accommodations some of my students may require as a result of a specific disability. If you choose to donate to my project, you are choosing to support the education of my students! Thank you for your consideration in taking the time to read through my request! God Bless!
