My Students
Sharks, tornadoes, planets...children are fascinated with these subjects and so much more! My students love reading non-fiction books and learning about their world!
I am privileged to teach 26 unique, wonderful children.
They come from diverse backgrounds and most speak another language at home. I work in an inclusion classroom which services both general education and special education students. My co-teacher and I work together to provide our students with a loving, supportive, and enriching learning environment.
My Project
My students need non-fiction books. Our new state standards call for a reading and writing curriculum rich in non-fiction. Armed with a library of engaging non-fiction books, my students will be able to learn about a wide variety of topics. They will learn to read non-fiction books using features such as the glossary, index, and table of contents. In addition, they will learn how to write their own non-fiction books!
Young children learn really well when they are interested in the subject.
The books I am requesting are on topics second graders are really excited about. I know they will be so excited to read them, and the more the children read, the stronger they become at both reading and writing. Also, the kids will remember the cool facts they learn and will tell their families and friends what they learn!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
