The students I have the pleasure to teach are some of the most passionate, sweetest, exuberant kids you will ever meet! Many of them are also students who have faced many hardships in life and will continue to face many hardships. Our school is a Title I school serving low-income students from all over the city of Nashville, TN. Many students come to our school without ever having been in a Pre-K program of any type. Therefore, some of them are often lacking in skills that perhaps their same-aged, higher income peers have already mastered. Our school is determined to make sure that by the time our students leave our school in 8th grade, they are caught up and on the path to college success. College and life success depends on creating students who are life-long learners and lovers of gaining knowledge!
I truly hope that in my school all of my students feel the excitement that comes from gaining knowledge and discovering something new every day!
My Project
Kindle Fire tablets allow personalization of student work. Every day in my class we participate in math and English language arts centers. I have one group of scholars at my teacher table and the rest of the class are completing independent centers. Independent centers are great, except every scholar is different and every scholar needs something different in order to succeed.
Kindle Fire tables will allow me to personalize student work and give every scholar what they need to succeed.
If this project is funded it will not only allow me to personalize scholars' independent centers but it will also give technology access to scholars who do not get this opportunity at home.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether it is too hard or too easy for them. It will be targeted to what they need to grow as readers and mathematicians. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
