Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Do not confine your children to you own learning, for they were born in another time."~Chinese Proverb. I stress this to all of my parents at the beginning of each school year. This is a new day and age, and I want my children to be able to keep up with the rest of society around them.

"The great aim of education is not knowledge, but action".

I don't think there is enough time or space to describe how precious the kids are to me. We are a charter school within our district so we don't get all of the luxuries as most public school. Most of our computers are outdated and don't have the technology in some classrooms to keep up with a 21st Century Student. We always tell our parents we are a school of choice and we are glad that you chose us! Most of my students live in the surrounding neighborhood, which is low income. I always say, every child has a story, and until you have walked in that child's shoes, you do not know their story. Life is hard for them, even in Kindergarten. I try to make sure they want for nothing while they are at school. I don't ever want them to say, I didn't get a chance to experience that in school.

My Project

"Teachers need to integrate technology seamlessly into the curriculum instead of viewing it as an add-on, an afterthought, or an event."~Heidi-Hayes Jacobs. Being one of the younger teachers in the school, I know how important technology is in the classroom. I bring my personal items to the classroom so they are not left out. This year we have adopted a new Math and Science Curriculum that involves using more technology in the classroom. Having the projector will allow me to use the technology side, allowing them to watch the videos that are apart of the lesson, participate in games, use the tools provided that are on-line, and help to have a more interactive classroom.

"There can be infinite uses of the computer and of new age technology, but if the teachers themselves are not able to bring it into the classroom and make it work, then it falls."~Nancy Kassebaum.

The donation of this projector will help 1000% in my classroom. I teach 5 and 6 year old students. They all have apart of visual learning inside of them. Seeing things in color and in front of them on a screen will help them to get a better understanding off the lesson and what is going on!
