My Project
It's no secret that most teachers are big bookworms! We could spend hours lost in a new world of great adventure, unlocking new discoveries, or solving new mysteries that have perplexed all man-kind for hundreds of years. Books have the power to transport us to fantastical worlds we'd never imagine, and provides us with opportunities to experience cultures and viewpoints different from our own.

I teach in a community school located in Central Harlem, and we service a diverse population, including two domestic violence shelters and low-income housing developments. We have very limited resources. We are in desperate need of new furniture. The bookshelves we have are very old and dilapidated. I am not sure repainting them again would provide much help.
This project will help me create a very much deserved, very much needed beautiful, welcoming, and engaging library for my classroom.
