My Project
Not everyone can afford some of the basics, and while I have a supply of other items, the binders and dividers that make up our well-organized set of information and resources need to be refreshed each year. For a transient student that struggles to have the right materials, knowing what they need is already in class can really take away some anxiety. We do a lot of calculations and graphing in Biology to improve data literacy, but not everyone has ready access to a calculator. I am 20 calculators away from a complete classroom set, this project will get me 10 calculators closer! This set of 10 comes in a protective case so they will last a while!
Second, supplies to help students create good looking projects and annotated notes; tape dispensers to share, and highlighters and colored sticky notes to make their data pop.
Once again, while some students have the means to bring these to class, not all do.
Third, some simple sets of beakers will allow me to make smaller lab groups in the classroom. I have a nice set of trays that allow me to make personalized sets of science supplies for students to do labs. My biology classroom starts off with a lot of labs about membranes, osmosis, and the process of science. These beakers will help me make smaller lab groups, get students more involved in lab actions rather than sitting back and watching because the group is too big.
