"I cannot do this yet!” I truly believe teachers MUST teach students what it means to learn to make a huge difference in their academic success.
My students are a diverse group of which some are speaking English as a second language, some with learning disabilities, and others that are achieving beyond grade level expectations.
More than 75% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Even with the obstacles they face, they are a motivated group of kids with hearts of gold.
My goal this year is to transform my classroom into a well-run financial institution. For years, I have spent my spare time studying the techniques of different educators and leaders. I am constantly amazed by the effect their methods have on student achievement. I want to attend the ASCD conference so that I can learn how to transform my classroom and learn new strategies that will take learning to a new level.
When students are engaged, they learn.
The goal of this project is to learn new techniques and strategies to engage my students while teaching them financial literacy daily. After attending ASCD it is my hope that I can come back to my classroom and school, implement some of those strategies, and have a mighty impact on student achievement at my campus. I see my classroom and school being more lively and engaging with 100% of the students focusing their attention on their academics. I see students responding to our classroom transformation leading to better student outcomes. After attending the training I will be able to establish and maintain a classroom culture that will keep students engaged and promote student achievement while incorporating financial literacy into the routines and procedures of our class every day. Students will benefit greatly!
