My Project
Students received a classroom rug as part of our project, “Chill Zone.” They use this area frequently to take a break, stretch and practice mindful breathing. It gets so much use that sometimes we need to close the area until it is able to be properly cleaned. Unfortunately, our custodial staff does not have the ability to regularly clean this rug or the area in our zone. This project would provide the students with materials and resources to keep the chill zone a clean and inviting environment.
A well-kept environment creates a sense of order and calmness that can make students feel more at ease.
The goal of the chill zone is to have an area where students can go to relieve anxiety they may be feeling. Therefore, having this area clean is essential to help alleviate student stress levels.
Students will learn responsibility or maintaining the cleanliness of their much visited area. A vacuum will keep the carpet clean while wipes and towels will help keep our fidget and sensory objects ready for future use.
