My Project
Aloha! I teach 9th grade Algebra 2, and 12th grade Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus. It goes without saying that the course materials are rigorous and demanding of the students. While they perform well under the expectations set for them, they can never succeed unless their needs are met, per Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs!
While I can provide the higher tiers of the hierarchy (safety, security, belonging), it's difficult to provide my students the basic needs out of my own pocket.
Our community has a low socioeconomic standing, and my students come from all different types of households. Not every family has the means to send their kids to school with extra snacks to keep their growing bodies fueled throughout the day. Your donation will go towards buying snacks for my classroom, as well as a sturdy shelf for them to store their math binders, which house their daily hard work, among other materials that are used to improve their learning environment, and in turn, experience.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
