Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students consist of a Bilingual Spanish speaking class with a mix of third and fourth graders from different countries. They all come from low income families with limited resources. My students are motivated to learn even though they have limited life experiences.
Though they live in the poorest congressional district in the country, they constantly surprise me with their motivation and enthusiasm.
They are eager to learn and always have an inquisitive mind. I am lucky to be their teacher because I learn from them as much as they learn from me. I get to find the diamonds in the rut.
My Project
A classroom is a child's second home. Students spend the majority of their time at school. I would like to provide my students with a beautiful organized environment. A place they can call their own, and can be proud of.
The new board will provide me the opportunity to get rid of the clutter a cart brings by providing my students with more space to sit on the rug.
A dry erase board will allow me to get rid of a dry erase cart that takes to much place on my rug. The board will be used for everyday whole group instruction and because it is also magnetic I can hang reference charts as well as books we are reading.
The cart with baskets will allow me to store classroom supplies needed to teach every day lessons. These supplies will be stored in the baskets away from the naked eye and will be easily accessible for teaching. These materials will help enhance the classroom environment.
