This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a middle school math teacher, I have the privilege of working with incredible students in grades 6 through 8. Many of them come from low-income households, and a majority are immigrants—some beginning their educational journey in the United States for the very first time.

Starting school in a new country can be both exciting and overwhelming.

I want to ensure that my classroom feels like a welcoming and safe place where every student has the tools they need to succeed. The Lakeshore Classic Birch Tabletop Communication Center allows us to share our resources without any student feeling like they need to ask for supplies they may not have access to. Students thrive when they feel they are part of a community and are valued. To help make this transition smoother, I’m requesting basic but essential classroom supplies: paper, pencils, glue, crayons, and colorful paper. These materials will allow students to engage in hands-on learning and creative math activities from day one.

In our classroom, we don’t just focus on numbers—we explore the real-world value of math, build critical thinking skills, and encourage problem-solving in meaningful ways. Your support will help us start the year off strong and show students that their learning matters and they are supported.
