A Warm Space to Get Support

My Project

I am a Prevention & Intervention Specialist. My students are 7th and 8th-graders with big emotions, facing daily challenges while trying to navigate middle school. Most of them come to my office needing a place to decompress and feel safe before returning to class. I want to create a calm, welcoming environment that helps them regulate their emotions and feel cared for.

I want this room to feel like a safe landing place for students who need a moment to breathe.

The soft lamp and fairy lights will replace harsh overhead lighting, and the sage wallpaper, rug, and plants will bring a sense of peace and grounding. The fidgets and snacks will give students small comforts when they need them most.

With these touches, students will feel a sense of calm the moment they walk in. They’re already excited about helping shape the space, and I’m taking their feedback to heart. They deserve a room that feels safe and soothing—a place where they can talk, reflect, and begin to heal.
