A Warm and Welcoming Rug!

My Students

I teach Academic Intervention Services to students in grades K-5.

I encourage my students to know that they are readers.

Our rural elementary school in upstate New York has a student population of three hundred and fifty students. Students who are at risk of failing the New York State Assessments and students who are having difficulty academically are recommended to receive Academic Intervention Services. That's where my room comes into play.

My students are hardworking and imaginative young learners. They strive every day to improve all areas of their literacy deficiencies. My students are all very eager to learn and love coming to school. They are independent, hardworking, and compassionate.

My Project

My students need a warm and welcoming rug to help them become strategic and successful readers and writers! K-5 students visit my reading room 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week. In this time, students work extra hard to develop their literacy skills.

Providing these hard working students with a new and welcoming rug to read on, will not only enhance their motivation, but will reflect in their overall academic progress.

Students spend 15-20 minutes a day, reading independently in my room. Providing them with an opportunity to have a clean, fresh and warm rug to sit on while reading, is the least I can do! I truly hope the opportunity for my students to have a new fresh rug to work on will be in consideration of your donation ! Thank you !
