A Warm and Welcoming Classroom

Help me give my students a warm and welcoming classroom environment that is comfortable, calming, and social/emotional friendly. My students have a need for a welcoming classroom environment where they have a calming corner.

My Students

Students in the structured educational setting are unique, hard working and inspiring students who despite their disabilities and limited access to educational and social/emotional opportunities, come to school each day with a smile on their face and they are ready to learn! My students work towards individualized goals to promote their own success in school with guidance from the caring adults in the classroom. The relationships these students create with each other and the adults in the room is unique and unmatched.

My Project

My students have special learning needs. With these exceptional needs, they often need social and emotional support. These materials will allow my students to have a calming corner with easy access in my classroom. This corner will have flexible seating, emotion anchor charts, and calming tools/fidgets. All students need a warm and welcoming classroom and to feel love when they go to school each day. I strive to make my classroom a welcoming and safe space for all students. Students will receive instruction on how to use the calming corner appropriately and will return back to the learning area of the classroom when they feel ready. This will teach students calming strategies and self-regulation skills that are critical for the non-school environment.
