Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

According to research, warm and cozy classroom environments help children feel safe, secure, and valued. This increases self-esteem, and motivates students to learn, develop strong trusting relationships, and to grow up with respect for themselves, others, and life.

My students, ages 3 to 5.5 years old, are part of an inclusive pre-kindergarten environment.

They live in a multicultural city, and for this reason they are very diverse. They are diverse, not only in their cultures and ethnic backgrounds, but also in their physical, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional learning abilities. Our school is part of a Title I district, where at least 75% of students qualify for free or reduced price meals. My students' love for learning always amazes me. They are curious and eager to learn new ideas through play-based, multisensory, hands-on activities. As a teacher, I am constantly striving to provide new materials and experiences that will allow them to grow in all areas of development. My ultimate goal is to provide a solid educational foundation and instill with them a lifetime love for learning.

My Project

Children learn best in an environment that is warm and comfortable. These soft and attractive classroom rugs will allow me to create a rich and inviting place for my students to take part in several individual, small, and large group experiences. They will be able to relax and feel at ease as they read, interact with one another, listen to stories, engage in dramatic play, participate in music and movement exercises, sing songs, play games, rest, etc. The learning possibilities are endless! My young students will feel more at home and, as a result, will be able to grow in all areas of their development.

As an educator, it is important for my classroom to be beautiful and inviting.

Donations to this project will enable me to create a unique identity for each space in my classroom, that communicates my belief that children learn best where they feel comfortable and safe. I am confident that these rugs will help stimulate thinking, and encourage positive encounters, communication, and relationships. My students will be able to develop many skills, that will serve them now and throughout the rest of their lives.
