Help me give my students wallets to increase financial understanding, personal responsibility, and an increase sense of pride; these wallets will be incorporated into our school-wide reward program to promote pro-social and responsible behaviors.

My Students
The students at our urban public high school are a wonderful group of teenagers whom require a therapeutic setting in order to succeed in their academic and social/emotional lives. These students come from many walks of life, and have various challenges in which they face. These include, but are not limited to: poverty, strained family relations/support systems, mental health struggles, social skills struggles, and academic struggles.
The students at our school are nothing short of resilient; they have faced- and will face - many hardships in their lives, yet they remain determined to succeed.
Each student acts as an invaluable member of our school community. This community has a feeling of family for many of our students and serves as a great support system.
My Project
The chance for our students to have their own wallet will be an immense help in our effort to enhance our school-wide initiative of positive behaviors and "real world" functioning skills. Each student receives a faux "dollar" at the end of the school day if they have managed to participate as a member of the school community (behaviorally, academically, socially, etc.) in a successful manner. The students will be able to "buy" small prizes, snacks, or special activities with their earned "money".
The opportunity for each student at our high school to own and use a wallet is both a lesson and a gift which some have never encountered before- a chance to be in control of their own earned "money".
We have incorporated a banking system where student can store their "money" in order to encourage the "real world" skill of saving earned money for a larger reward. Having their own wallet will mean that the students will have to keep track of their own "earnings" and instill a sense of responsibility and pride.
