The chance for our students to have their own wallet will be an immense help in our effort to enhance our school-wide initiative of positive behaviors and "real world" functioning skills. Each student receives a faux "dollar" at the end of the school day if they have managed to participate as a member of the school community (behaviorally, academically, socially, etc.) in a successful manner. The students will be able to "buy" small prizes, snacks, or special activities with their earned "money". The opportunity for each student at our high school to own and use a wallet is both a lesson and a gift which some have never encountered before- a chance to be in control of their own earned "money". We have incorporated a banking system where student can store their "money" in order to encourage the "real world" skill of saving earned money for a larger reward. Having their own wallet will mean that the students will have to keep track of their own "earnings" and instill a sense of responsibility and pride.
