FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Queen's classroom raised $422
This project is fully funded
Our second grade students study the life cycle in Science. The main focus is the life cycle of the butterfly. We are fortunate that we have access to a butterfly farm just 20 minutes away from our school.
We would like to take our children on a walk with the butterflies at "all-a-flutter" butterfly farm in High Point, NC.
We teach at a school that is very diverse. We have families of many different languages and economic levels. Our school is Title 1 and Equity Plus.
We want every student in second grade to have this wonderful experience, giving them a natural connection to our curriculum that they may otherwise never experience.
This field trip includes 45 minutes of fluttery fun. The students get to tour the flight house where they will see everything from Monarchs laying eggs to nectaring on plants and feeders. Some students will get to volunteer to dress up and pretend to be butterflies. Each student will have the opportunity to feed the butterflies by hand and may even get a surprise butterfly landing on their brightly colored clothes.
We are requesting a donation to cover the cost of the trip for our second grade classes. Our grade level will pay for the transportation. The butterfly season begins in April. Our trip is scheduled for April 26. We would need the donation by April 1, 2007 in order to pay for the trip.
We know the importance of helping students make connections to what they are learning in our classrooms. This trip to "all-a-flutter" butterfly farm will give our students something to remember for a lifetime.
