My Project
Our school band is growing faster than ever, and our flute section has expanded from just 2 students to 12 passionate young musicians! Unfortunately, we don’t have enough flutes to meet this demand. With your support, we can give each student a working instrument and ensure every child has the chance to experience the joy, pride, and academic benefits that music brings.
Our students come from vibrant, hardworking families, but many face financial challenges.
Over 90% of our school population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. Despite these obstacles, our students are motivated and full of potential. They come to band class excited to learn and ready to support one another through music.
For some, band is their favorite part of the day — a place where they feel confident, creative, and connected. They deserve the tools to succeed, and that starts with having a quality instrument in their hands.
We are requesting new flutes to meet the needs of our growing flute section. Right now, we simply don’t have enough instruments and some of the flutes we do have are in poor condition. This creates barriers for students who are eager to join but don't have the means to rent or buy their own.
Learning to play an instrument offers so much more than just musical skills. Students involved in band often perform better in math and reading, develop stronger memory and attention skills, and experience a major boost in self-esteem. They also learn responsibility, perseverance, and teamwork — all traits that carry into their academics and their lives.
Band is often a life-changing experience. It gives students a safe space to grow, belong, and be celebrated. For many of my students, it’s where they find their voice — sometimes for the first time.
