My Project
My students are a diverse group of children with Autism who face many challenges, including communication. They will benefit from an iPad in speech-language therapy to explore many communication applications. These applications will give my students a voice and a way to communicate.
My goal for this project is to provide my students with an iPad equipped with a variety of communication applications for them to trial to determine the best fit!
My students have access to IEP-driven devices AFTER an evaluation is completed. Sometimes, this process takes a long time, and little is given to determine which program works best for them. In return, sometimes, students are given a communication application that is not the best fit. My students would benefit from having access to an iPad with communication applications to trial and become comfortable with before an evaluation is completed. This will help set my students up for success and give them a voice their parents have been waiting for years to hear.
