Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in the 8th grade and we are learning about physical science. I have one class of students who are learning to speak English along with learning science. Everyone at our school participates in a free breakfast and lunch program. My students have wonderful participation in class and get excited whenever I bring in anything new. This is my first year in this classroom with this age group and I am working hard to give my students the best science classroom possible.

My Project

I teach 8th grade science and many of my students are English language learners. When answering questions in class, most of my students do not speak loudly enough to be heard by everyone. I use up class time repeating what my students say so that everyone can hear. This repetition can be avoided if we have a microphone!

The Q-ball is a microphone that students can toss to each other!

We will have so much fun and increased student engagement with this technology in the classroom.

As I am teaching a lesson, I can toss the Q-ball to students to let them participate in the discussion. Students can feel confident because everyone in the room can hear what the are saying without the teacher having to repeat it or say speak up.
