In our elementary visual arts classroom, my students have the opportunity to explore, reflect, connect and create in unique ways. As part of our integrated art curriculum, I offer ways to support grade-level core standards by creating hands-on, creative, and kinesthetic learning experiences. One of the many ways that I support essential knowledge, skills, and learning dispositions is by connecting visual art standards with the grade-level core through picture books and the use of various art media.
We have all been impacted by COVID 19 in various ways.
However, even though the difficult challenges and experiences that my students have been faced with, they have learned to rise above! I believe that through our visual arts learning experiences, my students have learned to connect and express how they are feeling and what they have experienced! One of the visual art experiences that I would love to provide for my students, is abstract paint pouring. I feel that this project could provide my students a chance to express themselves through an authentic abstract form of art.
My Project
In an effort to support my students in the difficult challenges and experiences that they have faced due to COVID-19, I would love to provide them with an experience to create a visual expression that represents how they feel or what they have experienced. By incorporating the use of acrylic paint pouring techniques in an abstract expressionism style, students will be given a chance to express themselves through colors, technique, and style. We need canvases, paint, measuring cups, etc. I believe that by creating this authentic visual art experience, students will find relevance, expression, connection, and solace through their art experience.
