it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Special Education/Math educator, I aim to make learning effective and exciting for my students. To achieve this, I need a few essential supplies that will help create a more interactive and visually engaging classroom environment.
My students attend a performing arts school in the heart of NYC, where creativity and visual learning are central to their education.
Many thrive when they can see concepts in action through performance, visual aids, or hands-on activities. Like the arts, math is best understood when it’s made tangible, and my students rely on visuals such as charts, diagrams, and color-coded resources to help them grasp abstract ideas and connect with the material. Integrating visual tools into our lessons supports their learning and taps into their unique strengths as artists and learners.
Highlighters are a simple but powerful tool for marking important information, steps in problem-solving, and key concepts. Students can actively engage with the material and better organize their learning. Additionally, bright colored paper will help to create visual math posters and reference sheets. These materials will help reinforce critical math concepts in a fun, accessible way. Visual aids are essential for student understanding, especially in math, where abstract concepts can be challenging to grasp. Lastly, I’m requesting a document camera stand to allow students to showcase their work directly to the class. This tool will enable them to project their problem-solving processes on the Smartboard, fostering a collaborative environment where they can share strategies, ask questions, and learn from each other.
These supplies will help my students engage, understand, and gain confidence in math. Your generous donation will significantly impact students who enjoy learning in a classroom that promotes their creativity and growth.
