Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are diverse learners who benefit greatly from sensory and hands-on learning experiences. As a special education teacher, I co-teach multiple subject areas, including Global History and Earth Science. I would like my 29 students to have access to two virtual reality headsets to help transport them to different time periods in world history, and to explore the multitude of terrains of our planet Earth and solar system.
An example lesson for the Global History classroom would include students exploring a region of England pre-and-post Industrial Revolution through virtual reality, viewing the major changes that occurred during this time period, including urbanization, development of factories, and changes in agricultural practices.
An example of an Earth Science lesson would include students exploring a volcano through virtual reality and developing topographic maps of the volcano before and after eruption.
