A Virtual Background for My Virtual Classroom

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is not up to date with incorporating technology in the classroom and my students with autism shouldn't be left behind. Since they have an intellectual disability, technology and social play can assist them with reaching their learning goals. My students are a wonderful group of preschoolers who attend a low-income PreK-5 public school in California. My job is to make sure they receive the best education possible regardless of their learning ability.

My goal is to have students learn simple things like shapes, colors, numbers and the alphabet by infusing music and technology into the curriculum.

Also, outside learning activities can assist with developing social play skills and understanding how to play games will assist with following directions. I want the best for my students and I hope you will partner with me as I endeavor to help my students meet their educational goals.

My Project

These selected materials will be used to create different virtual backgrounds during my teaching and learning time with my students. A DonorsChoose.org project was recently funded that will allow me to use a camera to record my lessons. This project will enhance my teaching and learning experience as I will be able to take my students to different places by using the green screen as a prop to switch out my virtual background during my instructional time with my students. For example, I can switch out my background to that of a zoo or park and have a conversation centered around what is being displayed in my background. The T-Shape portable stand will be used to hold the green screen in place.
