Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is comprised of many students who are immigrants and speak a language other than English at home, are gifted, or part of our special education programs.

I love the start of each day as students line up ready to get to class.

They smile because they know that something exciting will happen. I keep them guessing at what new things I might try or how I will read, and even what I just might wear (I came dressed as Dr. Seuss one day). These students all have different interests, from playing sports to reading a good book, but they share a common bond, the bond of curiosity and that is truly an amazing gift.

My students live in a high poverty area in Arizona. Our school is a Title I campus, and 100% of the school is eligible for the free lunch program. Our focus goals are to greatly improve our writing and our math abilities, but a major focus is to improve our reading ability of fluency to comprehension in all aspects of our school and classroom.

My Project

My 4th-grade students are always up for challenges. I would love to support my students by integrating new types of technology into an after school program to help them see and feel things in a different way.

Technology is always changing, the Mini Drone will add to the excitement of school, as well as to show students other areas that are possible for careers.

This afterschool program will have students coding, learning more about computers and 3D printers. Hopefully, we can add drone time for the students, this is a new trend that will have many jobs for them when they are out of school.

Thank you for thinking of my project and most of all the students, giving them more options and ideas for career paths.
