Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students in my classroom are sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who attend their Title I public middle school or magnet school in a large, urban school district. The students come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. My students are from low-income households and qualify for free lunch at school.

Most of my students have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and have been identified as having special learning needs such as coping strategies, visual processing deficits, auditory processing deficits, autistic-like behaviors, and attention deficits which can make it difficult for them to find success in a traditional oversized middle school classroom setting.

With the many challenges facing my students, they never fail to amaze me. My students are insightful, inquisitive, smart, interested, and hardworking. They all have the ability to rise above expectations when given enough time, support, and encouragement. My students are our future, and I believe in their ability to do wonderful things!

As a middle school special education teacher, a challenge is providing my students with a clean environment to not set off their allergies and keep them coming back to school. Please help me to purchase a vacuum to keep the floors clean from allergens and pollen to keep them coming to school each day.
