Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher in California. Approximately 60 percent of the students at our school are African American, about 30 percent are Latino, and the remaining 10 percent are a mix of Pakistani, Ethiopian, Anglo American and others. The vast majority of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. We are a Title 1 school. I always have many talented children in my classes, and I am always looking to expand the educational program I deliver.
The three computers in my classroom for student use are all ten years old and barely function. Internet access is slow and frustrating.
With the new computer, students will be able to take turns creating multimedia documents and go online to learn from some of the useful web sites available. Students will be able to type, save and print their work. The access to more modern technology, on a daily basis, will enable them to become more computer literate.
My dream is to replace the old computers in my classroom with new ones, one at a time. The goal is to have four new computers set up to function as a learning center for students to use -- for reading practice, writing practice, math practice, and to further their learning in other subjects taught in class, as well as to pursue their own interests.
Should you choose to donate, your contribution would make it possible for these low-income students to keep up with new technology. Your contribution will help to ensure that these children will not be left out of the digital future. Computers are costly, but the investment is worthwhile.
Please, give these children this gift. Your donation will be hugely appreciated.
