This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Welcome to the world of a special needs preschool! As a special needs teacher, I am constantly searching for the best resources with which to better serve my very special kiddos. Of course, the needs are many and the materials available are few! I teach in an urban Milwaukee school with a high poverty rate.
The children in my classroom have a variety of special needs ranging from cognitive delays to Cerebral Palsy.
All of the students have needs in the area of communication.
My Project
We are going to a program called "Sensing Animals." The focus of the program is to improve the students' awareness of their own senses. Through sights, sounds, smells, and touch, children will learn about farm animals. These activities will also reinforce skills such as shape and color identification along with size comparison and noise recognition.
The students will have an amazing hands-on experience of a real working farm.
The students will be able to take their knowledge back to the classroom and apply it to our farm theme. It will be much more meaningful having experienced this farm trip themselves.
