This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 26 of the most wonderful kids you have ever met! They are eager and excited to come to school and learn each day. Kindergarten is such a magical time in a child’s life with experiences that will shape their futures. Our class is working on communicating with one another, social relationships, as well as academic progress. Some of my students attended k4 or head start but for many, this is the first experience they have had in school.

As Robert Fulghum quoted "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten."

Our school is a Title I school that is high poverty and a high needs school. This year, we have had budget cuts at our school and I cannot provide many of the resources that my classroom needs.

My Project

Can you remember when you first learned to ride a bike? Most of my students have never had this experience before. When you ride a bike you are learning balance, coordination and are becoming aware of others as you navigate around them.

Tricycles help children develop their gross motor skills that are needed for almost everything!

This year we have been borrowing K4's tricycles. 100 kids in K4 and kindergarten have been using these tricycles during the day. We have many that are worn out and can no longer be ridden. We need to get more sturdy tricycles that are made from medal and not plastic. Biking is an activity that may lead to life long physical fitness for these kids.
