Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These kindergartners love to be at school. They love to learn, and they enjoy being an important part of their community. Nearly all the students that attend our school live in low-income households, but that doesn't stop them from contributing generously to their learning environment. They proudly cheer each other on, lift each other up, and push each other forward.
The students in this classroom come from a wide variety of different cultures and have vastly diverse identities.
They are curious about themselves, their classmates, and the cultural diversity within their community.
Every student in this classroom is special and unique, they are kind and considerate, and they are well mannered and respectful. When these positive personal traits are extended to those that look and behave differently than they do, they are helping to make the entire world a better place.
My Project
Did you know that tricycles impact students health and well being in more ways than just fitness?
Tricycles help to develop coordination and balance, they teach students to take initiative, and they also help to build the student's confidence and social skills.
Having a tricycle on our playground will help students to develop their coordination and balance while they are mastering their steering skills. It will help to develop their hand-eye coordination while they move to avoid obstacles and stay within defined boundaries. These opportunities, that are created by having access to a tricycle, also lead to an increased sense of self-confidence.
It will give them a strong sense of independence and control when they move about their playground, compete in races, and take turns with other students. It will give students the opportunity to take initiative and independently engage in exercise and social development in a fun and enjoyable way. I’m adding to the fitness gains students will develop by riding a tricycle, the social growth and development will lead to gains in self-confidence.
