This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In Kindergarten, the carpet is the heart of the classroom. This is where we have morning meetings, we listen to stories, we play learning games, and we do a lot of our learning.
Unfortunately our carpet is falling apart, and it is becoming more of a distraction than a learning place.
Scraps of our old rug end in the little fingers of our Kindergartners and become a little toy. Some nicer parts are more popular and become contested places. It is time to get a new carpet that is comfortable, safe and appealing to all!
My Project
We are asking for a large carpet that is especially built for classroom use, so it is durable, soft and plush, and students can sit on it comfortably. It is built of soil-resistant nylon, has heavy duty binding, and it comes with a 10-year guarantee. The design is inspired by nature, which goes along with the mission of our school, and our classroom theme. It depicts a beautiful tree and each student can sit on a leave. How fun is that! (especially if you are five!)
Carpets may not seem as important as books, but would you want your child to read a book sitting on an old rug that is falling apart?
We are hoping to get this carpet as a long term investment. It will create a beautiful and appealing learning space for many children in years to come.
