Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our Pre-K center is going in it’s fourth year. Our school provides developmentally appropriate practices and a safe environment that is conducive for learning. Our mission is to provide opportunities for our students to learn and grow through authentic experiences that will build a solid foundation for their academic success. The program we provide our students incorporates interactive activities, student-inquiry based lessons, and appropriate social and emotional experiences that target the holistic development of a preschooler.
Our school is located in a low-income area that strives to provide support to our students, as well as their families.
We are continuing to build relationships and incorporate the cultures of our students and their families into our everyday instruction.
My Project
My students love to engage in dramatic play and scientific experiments. Having a tabletop light panel in the classroom will let them explore both centers of choice. My students will get to explore their bodies by understanding what an X-ray does and what is underneath their skin. They can pretend they are doctors treating their patients. They will also be able to utilize the light panel to explore colors and see other objects in a different light. The stem kits will help my students with problem solving skills. They will be able to work in the water table and identify the problem, as well as solve the problem. These materials are beneficial to my classroom to build on my students prior knowledge and provide them with opportunities to use critical thinking while trying to solve a problem.
