I teach social studies, English Language Arts, and character education to 5th and 6th grade girls in a gender split school which is located in a low economical area in a major inner city in Michigan.
Our young ladies need a guided outlet to explore some of their emotions and transitions as they go through adolescence. After being together for a year they have learned how communication, reading about various topics of concerns to them and educating themselves is a key force in the proper decision-making of their everyday lives living in the inner-city.
Every year our young ladies create self-image binders, this serves as an inward and outward for them to communicate their own history from birth to present.
Your help will ensure that our girls are emotionally and academically prepared for their future successfully as they read and participate in this self-image portfolio for girls and have a profound impact on their future.
