This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of my students are from low-income households living in the San Fernando Valley. In fact, more than 80% of my students are considered economically disadvantaged. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, they are experiencing challenges having their basic needs met. Therefore, they do not have the resources necessary to print their essays at home.
A few of my students have printers at home but cannot afford to refill the toner, and most of them don't have a printer at all.
Therefore, I would like to print my students' essays for them.
In my classes, my students type their essays on their computers or phones and then submit to me online. I then print out the final drafts. Although we are not in the physical classroom right now, I will give my students their printed essays once we return to the physical classroom.
Although I have my classroom printer at home now, I don't have enough toner to print my students' essays. Unfortunately, my school doesn't provide toner, so I must buy it on my own.
My Project
My students need to print their essays. I can motivate my students to write, but I need a way for them to have their essays printed.
Therefore, I need a new toner cartridge to print my students' essays so they have a final, published copy for their portfolios.
Once I receive the essays via online submission, I can review them and make suggestions for revising and editing. Then my students can make the necessary changes.
Once all revisions have been completed, I can print the final drafts and give them to the students when we return to school.
This toner cartridge will allow me to print essays for my students so they can have a final draft in hand.
