A Therapeutic Horse-Back Riding Experience

My Students

My students are an exceptional group of children who exhibit great perseverance, strength, and positive attitudes. They have a variety of physical and cognitive needs that require them to learn and engage in their environment in different ways, but they never let anything get in the way of becoming more independent.

My students inspire those around them on a daily basis.

They attend a large, public school and work hard to achieve their academic, social, and physical goals through hard work. Our class travels outside of the classroom on a regular basis in order to work on goals, become more independent, and have fun, new experiences that allow us all to grow!

My Project

We need funds in order to pay for a bus to take our students to a local therapeutic horse-back riding facility to go horse-back riding. Due to our small class size, it is not reasonable to divide the bus cost among the students, which is typical in a general education classroom. We also require specialized transportation due to physical needs.

With proper transportation, our students will be given the opportunity to go horse-back riding at a facility that specializes in working with children with special needs.

Hippotherapy is the use of horseback riding as a therapeutic or rehabilitative treatment, especially as a means of improving coordination, balance, and strength. Hippotherapy is an amazing opportunity for all of our students to participate in and they will benefit greatly!
