This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are always looking for different ways to better assist our special education students when they are in the small-group resource setting with us. We have learned that many of the students benefit greatly from teacher-modeling and visual support, but only having access to whiteboards hinders our ability to reach the students in ways that would benefit their learning. This project can allow my colleague and I to be able to utilize document cameras that can be attached to wireless projectors which can facilitate how instruction is presented to them.

Being able to utilize a document camera would allow us to provide more visual teacher-guided instruction/experiences that can elevate our special education student's learning experiences.

Our students have many diverse needs and require opportunities like: teacher-guidance and visual supports to maximize their instruction. We also have groups of students that vary from 5-6 students at a time which makes it difficult to find strategies that can gain their attention and keep them motivated and alert throughout the learning process. Having access to a projector with a document camera would allow students to be more engaged in their learning because it would facilitate how the instruction is delivered and presented.
