Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Over the course of the school year, I will teach nearly 300 seniors in Government & Economics. We have many resources at our disposal, but I want to create an environment that fosters learning and engagement of topics in a library-like atmosphere.

For this project, I want to use technology to make Civics and Economics to life!

With the VR system, my students can take virtual tours of Washington DC, Philidelphia Hall and many other historic landmarks across the country. In Economics, my students can use the VR machine to see federal reserves across the country and play personal finance games to simulate budgeting and being an adult, making financial decisions.

I would like the different modalities of headphones along with the two types of seating for small groups. Using the flexible seating options, the students can work in small groups while listening to and analyzing the resources from podcasts like Planet Money and Civics 101. In addition, the Apple pencil will assist my students who have trouble writing on the iPad.

I want all of my students to have access to Government through pocket constitutions. As we're studying about the world, we often relate these topics to the eyes. I would like a replica human eye so we can not only cross multiple subjects, but it will help the students to visualize their understanding of the comparisons. Finally, I am asking for multiple print materials of resources for Government & Economics so the students have these to utilize during small group collaboration.
