Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Each day, I show up to work grateful and motivated to be given the opportunity to teach in an inclusive Kindergarten classroom setting. This means that I create a learning environment where students with disabilities, specifically Autism, are able to learn, grow and play alongside neurotypical students.
What I love most about my classroom is that it is up to ME to create an environment where my students feel safe, engaged, welcomed, celebrated and confident.
My Project
This teaching cart will help make learning accessible to all students, regardless of where they are seated in my classroom during this time of social- distanced learning.
I learn so much each year as a teacher, but teaching during the 2020-2021 school year opened my eyes to a whole new set of challenges- teaching while social- distancing from my young students.
In my inclusive Kindergarten classroom, we spent 5 days a week in the classroom during this unique school year, learning how to get creative and find new (safe) ways to keep our learners engaged, while remaining in their seats almost the entire school day. Having an easel to teach from and create safe, sanitary and engaging learning was a BIG help. Students were able to safely make their way to the easel with their own markers or materials to contribute to activities, demonstrate their learning or even express themselves creatively.
