I refer to my students as “my kids” quite often. They’re all unique in their own way, and it’s been an adventure getting to know each student personally. They are hard workers and strive to improve every day.
Many of my students have known struggles in their lives that are difficult to fathom.
Our school is located in Shepherd, a small community north of Houston. Hurricane Harvey was devastating to the town, and many are still rebuilding one year later. As a teacher at Shepherd Intermediate, I strive to make my kids feel safe and loved while they’re at school. I believe in the kids, and their potential for success.
Right now, our Chromebooks live dangerously on a skinny table in the front of my classroom. At least twice a week, I spend 20 minutes on the floor untangling the charger cords. The computers are stacked 4-5 high in rows, which can be nerve wracking with groups of kids searching for their device.
A charging cart that holds all of the devices in one safe place will be a huge asset to the classroom.
This will save everyone time and also free up some space for us. With 30 slots in the cart, I can easily label each one and the students will be able to quickly plug up and go.
