My students have aspirations of being superheroes, police officers, ballerinas, doctors, firefighters, architects, princesses, teachers, and astronauts. Each of them is unique with an abundance of strengths and abilities. They range in age from 3 to 12, all with one area of commonality: they have delays in their language development that makes learning and communicating an everyday challenge. My youngest students are desperate to acquire vocabulary and expressive language skills to share the adventures of their days, while my older students are hungry to understand and find academic success in their classrooms.
My Project
To teach my students all the language skills they need and allow them to communicate within their classrooms they often need a quiet space to learn and practice discrete skills. While my younger students happily learn on my rug, my older students have outgrown the kindergarten sized table and chairs I have. I am asking for your donations to provide my older students with a table and set of chairs that fit their every growing bodies and minds and give them the needed space to learn the key language skills they need to bring back to their classroom and be successful.
