My classroom is a very busy place. My students are actively involved in learning all day long. We are working on small group, partner and independent activities throughout the day. This technology will provide an important tool for learning that is currently missing from our classroom.
My students are from a high poverty inner city school.
They are hardworking first graders who are very eager to learn. They love using technology, but our computers are very old and slow. I am eager to provide them a new tool to enhance and further their learning. They will be able to use the tablet to access websites that allow for them to work at their level. They can find a comfortable spot in the classroom to complete their activities and read books we have loaded for them. They will also use the tablet to type stories that they have written. The tablets will be used to learn to navigate the Internet and meet the technology standards required by our state of Ohio.
My Project
My first graders will be using this technology to meet the standards for technology that are required by the state of Ohio for first graders. They will also use the tablet to read books that are at their level while meeting the Common Core standards for ELA. They will visit math websites to help them meet the Common Core standards for Math. They will visit websites that meet them at their level and that will enhance their learning in all subjects. They will use the laptop feature of this 2-in-1 tool to learn to use the keyboard, practice typing, and to produce stories and books that they have written. This technology will expose them to a very different way to access the Internet, write stories and to read books. They will feel very proud to be able to use a tablet independently in first grade.
By donating to my project you will provide my students with a modern tool that will teach them many things about tablets, laptops and the Internet.
My students will be excited to have their turn on this new technology and it will make learning and school very exciting for them. They will be able to utilize this type of technology with confidence and expertise when they encounter it outside the classroom.
