A Table for Small Group Learning

My Project

My students are growing readers, writers, and thinkers who thrive when they can learn in small, focused groups. In our fourth-grade English classroom in inner-city Youngstown, many of my students come to school facing daily challenges outside of their control. Despite these obstacles, they are curious, determined, and eager to learn.

To better support their learning, we are in need of a sturdy table where I can work with small groups throughout the day.

Whether it’s guided reading, writing conferences, or literacy interventions, this table will give us the dedicated space we need for meaningful, targeted instruction.

Right now, we’re using whatever furniture we can find — and it’s not ideal. A table designed for small group learning would allow us to meet comfortably, spread out our materials, and truly focus. It may seem simple, but this one piece of furniture would make a big difference in helping my students grow academically and feel supported.
