Help me give my students calculators, pencils and an organizer to hold the calculators.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Gray's classroom raised $934
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students range from a middle class family to very low income level families. I teach approximately 125 students per day. Many do not have materials for class regularly. The main issue that they face is that they do not have the means for a $20 calculator. To be successful in math class, a proper calculator is necessary.
Most students are appreciative of the help they receive.
Many of them are "pleasers" and although not academically inclined, they will give effort in classroom. They are not good with arithmetic or fractions, which is also why the need for calculators is high.
My Project
It will assist in fractions, exponents, etc, so they focus on the concepts instead of basic math skills. This will enable them to focus on the higher level mathematics standards in which they are required to learn. For instance, the calculators will add, subtract, multiply, divide and simplify fractions. This is a concept in which most students severely struggle. Students do not always finish the assignments in class, but with enough calculators, I could check calculators out to those in need.
Pencils are necessary daily to be successful in my class, often times students do not have basic materials such as pencils.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
