This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students collectively create a dynamic classroom! They each come with a powerful story. A story of success, failure, fear, joy, and are all overcomers. I teach in a poverty stricken urban district. My students need to know they are valued, loved and appreciated daily. I make sure they are told and reminded! One of my biggest struggles teaching in an urban setting is sending my kiddos home knowing they won’t be eating until breakfast at school the next day. This list will help those kiddos while providing with a fun school experience.

My Project

This project will provide my students with flexible seating at our kidney table where we conference their work and have one on one time together. This time is so valuable to them because my class sizes vary from 32-35. I would love to provide with them an exciting space to let their minds soar, conference and write. This project will also help me send some snacks home with students whose meals come only at school. I usually send a snack or two home with the kiddos who tell me they don’t have anything to eat at home. This would be a huge help and greatly appreciated!
