My Project

I want create a welcoming environment for students that allows for different learning styles. My students have gone through the traumatizing event of the Lahaina Wildfire; therefore, I want my classroom to be a safe and welcoming space.

I intend to make my classroom a welcoming student centered space by giving my students the options to play chess, checkers, and Guess Who.

Also, they will have the option of comfortable floor furniture. I teach about 30% of English Language Learner students. The board games are an excellent way to students to develop literacy skills. Some students also learn best when using floor furniture. I would like to add more floor furniture to my classroom to allow it to be differentiated for students who would like that type of furniture. My students are resilient, creative, and kind. They are also hardworking, and have an amazing sense of Aloha.
