This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My amazing high school students are all recent immigrants who are learning English as their second, third or even fourth language. My students are from more than 20 countries and speak more than 6 different languages.
According to NBC, Boston is the third most expensive place to live in the United States, and gentrification is impacting our schools and students' families.
With no end in sight to the housing crisis, it is vital that I make my classroom and curriculum welcoming and trauma responsive for all my students.
My Project
Back to school time brings excitement and new energy, but it also brings many more costs as families try to buy new clothes, shoes and school supplies for multiple children. Already, Boston is one of the most expensive cities in the country, and adding new costs in September can be challenging.
Your donation of 5 backpacks, 20 pencil cases and 24 pencil sharpeners will help support my students and their families to start the new school year strong.
Your donation will ensure that all students have access to new supplies and the confidence that a new back-to-school item can bring as they start a new grade.
