This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is located in the South Bronx with children who come from low income families. I have 18 enthusiastic pre-k students, who enjoy coming to school to learn through play but they lack social skills, independence, and communication.
Retelling stories plays a crucial role in pre-K child development by enhancing language skills, promoting comprehension and critical thinking, stimulating imagination and creativity, fostering social-emotional growth, and nurturing cultural awareness.
I would like to create a library center that supports holistic learning and prepares my students for future academic success. By using felt board storytelling and puppets, it will make learning fun and interactive, helping my pre-K students develop a range of skills in an engaging way.
