Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Some of the most powerful learning tools for making children into better readers are small, colorful and sticky! Post-it notes have changed from office reminders to the new way of making children accountable for understanding what they read. Students can write on the post-it what questions they have about their book, what they find interesting, what the character motivation is, or whatever thinking the book prompts. Best of all, the students LOVE using the post-it notes. They become more engaged in their reading, because it has changed from a passive to an active endeavor. This proposal is asking for a year's worth of post-it notes for two fourth grade classrooms, ensuring that our students will always have access to these little, sticky, powerful reading tools.
