Help me give my students bell tables, a guitar rack extender, boom mic stands, mic holders, a bass guitar and amp, and a portable Bluetooth speaker to help us learn, create, and perform in music!
My school is a K-7 International Baccalaureate magnet program in a large, urban district. All students have music twice a week where dancing, singing and playing instruments are the heart of our music program. I always look forward to my music classes because my students are smart, curious, funny, eager and so loving! They are diverse in many ways such as racially, economically, academically, socially and emotionally.
The universal language of music brings us all together.
It is the great equalizer. On the other hand, our diversity is celebrated and brings different cultural strengths to our music-making.
My Project
Our wide variety of requested resources fills many needs for my students to shine and become musical stars! Let's start with utility items. We have a set of tone chimes and the pads for the table on which to lay the chimes, but NO tables! My middle schoolers will be able to stand tall behind these tables as they play the melodious chimes. The tables fold in half for easy set-up and storage so my students can handle it all.
A star is born!
Let's make that LOTS of stars! With the requested boom mic stands and mic holders, my students will be in a perfect position to show their talent. Whether they are singing or playing an instrument, this versatile stand fits many needs.
The guitar rack extender is an add-on piece to racks we received last year and adds an extra safe spot for our student guitars. We know our instruments can be stored safely with these molded plastic and foam items.
The bass guitar and amp is to add support to the one other bass guitar that we have in the classroom. We have just started a Little Kids Rock program for our middle school students and are in the beginning stages of learning bass and electric guitar. Having two players on bass will give my students the help they need as they begin to rock 'n' roll.
And finally, I've chosen a portable Bluetooth speaker. The P.E. teacher and I will be team teaching a unit to our middle schoolers on international singing games and dances. We will utilize the playground and hallways as well as the gym and music classroom so that groups can practice. The speaker will provide portable music and go anywhere.
